Volunteering Merseyside is dedicated to supporting and promoting volunteering and volunteer management throughout Greater Merseyside. This website has been developed to enable both potential volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations to access relevant and up-to-date information and advice about all aspects of volunteering and volunteer management. This website reflects the wide range of work undertaken by Volunteering Merseyside. Volunteering Merseyside understands the term volunteering to include formal activity undertaken through public, private and voluntary organisations as well as informal community participation. Volunteering Merseyside believes volunteering: - Is an activity that is undertaken as an act free will, without concern for financial gain - Is an important and valuable force for change (Millions of adults in the UK and globally do voluntary work on a regular basis) - Central to active citizenship, inclusion and democracy - Can help people to gain new skills and experience and for some can provide a stepping-stone into paid employment - Has a major economic impact (The economic value of volunteering in the UK alone is an estimated £40 billion) Whatever your interest in volunteering we hope that you will find something on this site of value. If you manage volunteers or are considering involving them, if you are interested in volunteering yourself then we hope you will find this website useful. This website will be under constant development to reflect emerging issues in the world of volunteering as well as the work of Volunteering Merseyside.
